Subject: Pacific Northwest Ambience (single perspective)
Location: Capilano Pacific Trail, North Vancouver
Distance Covered: 12km (Drop Rig @ 4km)
Notes:
After the drop rig was successful last outing I wanted to give it another shot but without quite so much of a wash of white noise. The distant river in the last field recording ended up sounding too washy and non-distinct. So I aimed to get a bit farther away from the river, I came across a small stream in a clearing which provided some good context and set the drop rig up with the mics about 3ft apart on some downed trees.
This turned out much better, had great stereo localization because of the small stream serving as a focal point. Traffic and unwanted ambient sounds were much lower and it was just a better field recording overall.
